GPCA will hold its annual Investors Meeting on 19 November 2024 in London. This one-day, private meeting convenes a highly curated group of GPCA Member Investors and global LPs to discuss key topics shaping the future of private markets.

  

Focused on a series of candid, private small-group discussions and one-on-one meetings, the format is designed to promote transparent conversations among prominent private capital participants from Asia, Latin America, CEE, the Middle East and Africa, in addition to North America and Western Europe. 

 

A GPCA Members Reception, co-hosted by Debevoise & Plimpton, will be held the evening prior, on 18 November 2024, for GPCA Members, global institutional investors and other invited guests.

GPCA will host the next Asia Members Meeting in Singapore on 25 April 2024.

 

The meeting will take place at White & Case from 4:30-6 pm, followed by a reception from 6-7 pm. This interactive discussion will highlight sustainability in 2024, including Responsible AI, increasing government regulation on reporting and how the "Year of Elections" can impact sustainability.

 

Speakers include David Katz (Managing Director, Public Affairs, KKR), Michael Tang (Head, Sustainable Development Office, SGX RegCo), Jaclyn Seow (Director, ESG & Impact, Openspace Ventures) and Jingyi Zhang (Senior Investment Officer, Private Equity, Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB)).

 

We will also present GPCA's report on cross-border private capital activity between Asia and the Middle East.

► Teachers’ Venture Growth, the late-stage venture and growth investment arm of Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan, agreed to invest USD80m in Perfios, an India-based lending solutions provider. Perfios will become the second new unicorn in India this year following Krutrim in January. #Asia

 

► Actis and Royal Bafokeng Holdings agreed to acquire a 100% stake in Swiftnet, a South Africa-based telecom tower portfolio, from Telkom for an enterprise value of ZAR6.8b (~USD355m). #Africa 

 

► Auna, a private capital-backed hospital and prepaid healthcare plan management platform with operations in Mexico, Peru and Colombia, raised USD360m through an IPO on the NYSE. #LatinAmerica

 

► Kedaara Capital acquired a majority stake in India-based ice cream and frozen dessert brand Dairy Day for INR12b (~USD150m), providing an exit for Motilal Oswal and angel investors. #Asia

 

► Uber led a USD100m Series B for Moove, a Nigeria-based vehicle financing platform, with participation from Mubadala, The Latest Ventures, AfricInvest, Palm Drive Capital and others. The round values the startup at USD750m. #Africa 

 

► Innova Capital acquired a minority stake in Dimark Manufacture, a Poland-based industrial automation solutions provider focused on baggage handling systems. #CEE

 

► Lightspeed Ventures led a USD103m Series D for Pocket FM, an India-based audio series platform, with participation from StepStone Group. The round values the startup at USD750m. #Asia

 

► Apex Capital acquired Clorox Argentina, a wholly-owned subsidiary of cleaning product manufacturer The Clorox Company, with operations in Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay. #LatinAmerica

 

► China-based vaccine developer Varnotech raised a CNY600m (~USD84m) Series B led by Beijing Pharmaceutical, Healthcare Industry Investment Fund and Huayin Financial Investment, with participation from 3E Bioventures Capital, Jincheng Fund, Shunxi Fund and others. #Asia

 

► Ashmore Colombia acquired a majority stake in Bioena, a Colombia-based producer and distributor of industrial wood pellets. #LatinAmerica

 

► ADDI, a Colombia-based buy now, pay later platform, raised a USD36m round from GIC, Andreessen Horowitz and Union Square Ventures. ADDI also secured USD50m in debt financing from Goldman Sachs. #LatinAmerica

 

► Patria Investments invested BRL120m (~USD24m) in Tria Energia, a Brazil-based energy trading platform. #LatinAmerica

 

► Astella Investments led a ~USD7m Series A for Techome, a Brazil-based smart home startup, with participation from Endeavor Scale-Up Ventures and Endeavor Catalyst. #LatinAmerica

 

FUNDRAISING

► B Capital reached a USD750m final close for its second opportunities fund focused on late-stage technology, healthcare and climate tech startups in North America and Asia. #Asia

 

► Alteria Capital reached a INR15.5b (~USD186m) final close for its third venture debt fund focused on consumer and fintech startups in India. #Asia

 

► Aqua Capital reached a USD450m final close for its third flagship fund to invest in middle-market agribusiness and food value chain companies in Latin America. The fund had an original target of USD400m. #LatinAmerica

 

EXITS

► Actis agreed to sell Octotel, a South Africa-based fiber network operator, to a consortium led by African Infrastructure Investment Managers. #Africa 

 

► Darby International exited Arandanos Selectos, a Mexico-based blueberry producer and exporter, via a full repayment of its debt financing. #LatinAmerica

 

► DPI, BIII and EBRD agreed to fully exit KELIX bio, a pan-African pharmaceutical platform, via a sale to Mubadala. #Africa 

 

► ChrysCapital fully exited its remaining 3% stake in Mankind Pharma, an India-based prescription medicine and healthcare products manufacturer, for INR25b (~USD300m). #Asia

 

► Olympus Capital Asia sold a 9.8% stake in India-based private hospital chain Aster DM Healthcare for INR19.8b (~USD237.3m) via open market transactions. #Asia

 

► Warburg Pincus fully exited its 2.3% stake in India-based private sector lender IDFC First Bank for ~INR12b (~USD143.4m). #Asia
