How to Build Alignment with LP Co-Investors

LPs of all backgrounds are increasingly interested in co-investment opportunities. Led by IFC’s global head of co-investments, Andrea Onate, this training geared towards fund managers will present what LPs, and DFIs in particular, are looking for in terms of co-investment opportunities and the benefits for both fund managers and portfolio companies. 

 

Boosting Your Firm as a Trusted Partner: Moving from a Compliance to a Risk Mitigation Mindset

In this interactive workshop, FMO experts will explore evolving LP expectations and industry standards around governance and integrity concerns through the lens of Know Your Customer (KYC) and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) processes.

The Asia Members Meeting on 15 February discussed 2024 investment opportunities and risks in Indonesia against the backdrop of presidential elections and the shifting socio-economic landscape.

Indonesia's strong fundamentals make it appealing for private capital investment under the next administration, particularly in growing sectors like fintech, agtech and healthtech. However, challenges in securing profitable exits highlight the importance of rigorous due diligence amidst upcoming leadership transitions.

► GMR Airports, an India-based aviation facilities operator, raised INR22.5b (~USD271m) in debt financing, which includes INR8.3b from JP Morgan Securities Asia Pacific, INR8b from Tata Capital, INR3b from Navi Finserv and INR2b from HSBC. #Asia

 

► General Atlantic led a USD50m Series C for Bold, a Colombia-based payments platform for SMEs, with participation from IFC and follow-on from InQLab and Amador Holdings. Tiger Global led a USD55m Series B in February 2022. #LatinAmerica

 

► KPN Ventures and Lead Ventures led a USD28m Series B for CloudTalk, a Slovakia-based VoIP business calling solutions provider, with follow-on from Point Nine Capital, henQ, Presto Ventures and Orbit Capital. #CEE

 

► Equator led a USD24m Series A for Roam, a Kenya-based EV manufacturer, with participation from At One Ventures, TES Ventures, Renew Capital and others. The round included USD10m in debt from DFC. #Africa

 

► Advent International acquired a majority stake in China-based exhibitions and conferences organizer VNU Exhibitions Asia. #Asia

 

► MidOcean, a liquified natural gas company managed by global energy investor EIG, acquired a 20% stake in Peru LNG from SK Earthon. #LatinAmerica

 

► Cento Ventures invested in Doxa Holdings, a Singapore-based digital procurement platform for SMEs. Doxa Holdings previously raised a USD2.2m pre-Series A in 2022. #Asia

 

► Amethis acquired a minority stake in BBI, a UAE-based data management consultancy firm operating in the MENA region. #MiddleEast

 

► Taiwania Capital led a USD10m Series B for Daytrip, a Czech Republic-based global platform for traveling with local drivers, with follow-on from Euroventures, J&T Ventures and N1. #CEE

 

► Old Mutual Alternative Investments provided ZAR125m (~USD6.5m) in financing for Afropulse Group, a South Africa-based investment holding company. #Africa

 

FUNDRAISING

► Blue Earth Capital agreed to partially acquire stakes in three funds from British International Investment, including Aavishkaar Goodwell India Microfinance Development Company II, Novastar Ventures Africa Fund II and Adenia Capital Fund IV. #Global

 

► Seviora Capital and Temasek launched the T3F Strategy fund, focusing on late-stage venture and early-growth agri-food companies across the Asia-Pacific region. #Asia

 

EXITS

► Brookfield Asset Management partially exited Data Infrastructure Trust, an India-based infrastructure investment trust that owns telecom towers, for INR66.5b (~USD800m). Brookfield retains a ~58.3% stake following the transaction. #Asia

 

► Carlyle partially exited India-based private sector lender Yes Bank for INR10.5b (~USD125m). Carlyle retains a ~8.75% stake following the transaction. #Asia

 

► Warburg Pincus partially exited India-based jewelry chain Kalyan Jewellers for INR6.2b (~USD80m). Warburg Pincus first invested in the company in 2014. #Asia
