Data Insight: Fundraising Goes Local

Slide2-Jul-07-2026-03-23-25-7067-PM

As uncertainty and global volatility prompt institutional investors to shift capital closer to home, resilient local sources of capital are becoming increasingly important for managers investing outside the US and Western Europe. GPCA's research team explores how local institutional investors are reshaping private capital markets.

GPs are making inroads into the local investor universe, with the local share of disclosed LP commitments to GPCA markets funds growing from 49% in 2019 to 69% in 2025 (excluding DFIs and development agencies from the analysis).
