    GPCA will host a climate training session from 9 to 4 pm followed by a cocktail reception from 4 to 6 pm on 2 November 2023 at the Four Seasons Hotel in Singapore.

    This training, held in collaboration with the FMO (Netherlands’ Development Finance Company), will feature Charissa Bosma and George Janssen of FMO, Noel Peters of Asian Development Bank, Dominic Chan of Temasek, Roshini Bakshi of Everstone, Bence Szegedi of Navis Capital Partners, Milena Nikolova of Aera VC and Steve Okun of GPCA.

    GPCA Members, global institutional investors and other invited guests will convene for an evening of networking and cocktails from 6:30-9:30 pm at the Hotel Café Royal. Co-hosted with Debevoise & Plimpton. 

     

    8 November: Co-Investments Legal Session

     

    In this interactive session on Co-Investment Trends and Best Practices In Global Markets, partners from Debevoise & Plimpton will examine the evolving state of co-investments and its impact on fund managers active in GPCA’s markets. This session will be held from 5:00-6:00 pm at the Hotel Café Royal. 

     

    9 November: GPCA Investors Meeting

     

    The annual GPCA Investors Meeting will be held on 9 November 2023 at The Bloomsbury in London and will convene a highly curated gathering of GPCA Member investors and global LPs, including Mazin Alshanbari, Investment Office of Jada/PIF; John Merrill, Managing Director of GroveStreet; Craig Thorburn, Director, Office of CIO of Future Fund; and Benoit Valentin, Global Head, Private Equity Fund Investments of Temasek. Other LPs attending include BAE Systems, Canadian Medical Protective Association, Railpen, CPP Investments, Nest - National Employment Savings Trust, Tesco Pension Fund and representatives from GPCA’s DFI Council.

    ► AfricInvest and Verod Capital acquired a majority stake in iSon Xperiences, a Nigeria-based customer service and outsourcing provider across 19 countries. #Africa

     

    ► Valor Capital Group led a USD20m Series B for Nexu, a Mexico-based car financing platform. Nexu raised a USD50m Series A in January 2022. #LatinAmerica


    ► KASZEK led a USD16.5m round for Bia, a Colombia-based real-time energy consumption analytics platform for SMEs, with participation from Ewa Capital and WildSur, as well as follow-on from NAZCA. #LatinAmerica
     

    ► EDFI ElectriFI led a INR580m (~USD7m) Series B for Freyr Energy, an India-based rooftop solar installations company, with participation from Schneider Electric Energy Asia Fund, Lotus Capital, Maybright Ventures and VT Capital. #Asia

     

    ► Ore Investments acquired a controlling stake in Morro Verde, a Brazil-based phosphate fertilizer producer. #LatinAmerica

     

    ► Baichuan Intelligent Technology, a China-based large language model developer, raised a USD300m Series A from Alibaba, Tencent, Xiaomi and others. #Asia


    ► IFC invested in CantuStore, a Brazil-based omnichannel aftermarket tire retailer and distributor backed by L Catterton. #LatinAmerica

     

    FUNDRAISING

    ► Appian Capital reached a USD2.06b final close for its third fund focused on mining and mining-related companies in countries with proven geology, supportive governments and a robust legal framework where Appian has existing operations or experience operating. #LatinAmerica

     

    ► Quadria Capital reached a ~USD500m first close for its third fund focused on the healthcare sector in South and Southeast Asia. The vehicle has a USD800m target size. #Asia
    ► The Shell Foundation and FMO reached a USD125m final close for their Energy Entrepreneurs Growth Fund. The vehicle is managed by Triple Jump and aims to offer mezzanine financing and technical assistance to early- and growth-stage companies that increase access to clean and affordable energy for off-grid households and businesses in Sub-Saharan Africa. #Africa

     

    ► IDB Invest made a USD10m commitment to PCF III, Portland Private Equity’s third flagship fund with a USD100m target to invest in medium-sized companies in the Caribbean. #LatinAmerica

     

    EXITS

    ► Tata Motors agreed to sell a 9.9% stake in India-based product engineering and digital services company Tata Technologies to TPG Rise Climate and Ratan Tata Endowment Foundation for INR16.13b (~USD193.9m). #Asia

     

    ► SoftBank agreed to sell a 1.1% stake in India-based food delivery platform Zomato for INR10.24b (~USD123.2m). #Asia
