2024 Singapore Members Meetings-2

GPCA will host the first Asia Members Meeting of the year in Singapore on 15 February 2024 from 4:30-6 pm followed by a reception.

 

This interactive session will discuss investment opportunities and risks in Indonesia in 2024, against the backdrop of Indonesia's presidential elections and shifting socioeconomic landscape. The meeting will also include a data presentation by GPCA and a presentation on Indonesia's political background by Control Risks.

► Global infrastructure investor I Squared Capital invested USD400m for a 49% stake in Origo Energia, a Brazil-based distributed solar energy generation company. #LatinAmerica

 

► Silicon Box, a Singapore-based semiconductor packaging company specializing in chiplet integration services, raised a USD200m Series B from BRV Capital, Event Horizon Capital, Maverick Capital, Hillhouse Capital, Praesidium Capital, Tata Electronics, TDK Ventures and others. #Asia

 

► Affirma Capital led a USD145m investment in Copperbelt Energy Corporation, a Zambia-based power generation, transmission and distribution company, via a single-asset continuation deal. #Africa

 

► Legend Capital led a CNY660m (~USD92.9m) Series A for Sungrow Hydrogen, a China-based equipment developer for green hydrogen production, with participation from GL Ventures, Eastern Bell Capital, China Merchants Venture Capital and others. #Asia

 

► Base10 Partners led a USD41.5m Series B for Conta Simples, a Brazil-based corporate card issuer for SMEs, with follow-on from Valor Capital Group, DOMO, Big Bets, Y Combinator, Jam Fund and Broadhaven. #LatinAmerica

 

► Ezdehar Management acquired a majority stake in Egypt-based apparel retailer SETA Textiles. #Africa

 

► Global Ventures led a USD3m pre-Series A for Maalexi, a UAE-based risk management platform for SMEs in agriculture, with follow-on from Rockstart and Ankurit Capital. #MiddleEast

 

FUNDRAISING

► Asia Partners reached a USD474m final close for its second fund focusing on tech investments in Southeast Asia. #Asia

 

► Africa50 reached a USD222.5m first close for its Infrastructure Acceleration Fund focusing on sustainable infrastructure sectors across Africa. First-close investors include the African Development Bank and IFC. #Africa

 

► Portland Private Equity reached a USD100m first close for Portland Caribbean Fund III, its third flagship fund with a USD350m target. The European Investment Bank anchored the fund with a USD25m commitment through its investment arm EIB Global. #LatinAmerica

 

► Lexington Partners raised USD22.7b for Lexington Capital Partners X. The fund surpassed its USD15b target and significantly exceeded Lexington's prior secondary fund, LCP IX, which closed on USD14b in 2020. #Global

 

EXITS

► Gulf Capital fully exited AmCan, a UAE-based sports nutrition distributor, to a regional FMCG distributor operating across the Middle East and Africa. Gulf Capital first invested in AmCan in 2016. #MiddleEast

 

► Catalyst exited a 90% stake in its MENA Clean Energy Fund portfolio, which includes four utility-scale solar PV projects in Jordan and Egypt. #MiddleEast
