Venture Surged in Q1 2026

According to GPCA’s Q1 2026 Industry Data & Analysis, venture investment surged to USD15.2b, marking its strongest quarter since Q4 2022, as larger financing rounds drove activity higher across nearly all of GPCA’s markets. China led the rebound, with venture deal value increasing 3.5x YoY to nearly USD9b, its highest quarter in years.

GPCA Global Tech Council Meeting: Key Takeaways

GPCA's Global Tech Council convened recently, led by Council Chair Cem Sertoglu of Bek Ventures. Discussion highlights:

AI momentum is increasingly concentrating value and capital among a small group of “super winners” while mid-tier companies face longer liquidity timelines, limited growth capital and uncertain exit pathways, particularly outside the US.
Regional tech ecosystems are evolving unevenly. Latin America is seeing renewed fintech growth rounds and M&A activity, while Southeast Asia is attracting globally minded Chinese AI founders via Singapore and the Middle East is demonstrating resilience despite geopolitical volatility.
Secondary markets and AI infrastructure are becoming major investment themes, as specialized buyers expand the venture secondary market and investors increasingly focus on data centers, semiconductors, power generation and hardware needed to support AI-driven growth.

► BlueFive Capital led a USD250m investment in CargoX, a UAE-based autonomous delivery platform. #MiddleEast

► Impact Fund Denmark and Equitane invested USD215m in Spiro, a Kenya-based electric mobility and clean energy platform. #Africa

► INCE Capital and a China Life-backed venture fund led a USD200m investment in VAST, a China-based 3D modeling company, with participation from Genesis Capital, Eminence Ventures and Primavera Venture Partners, achieving a valuation of USD1b. #Asia

► Mars Growth Capital provided up to USD50m in financing to NALA, a Tanzania-founded cross-border payments platform. #Africa

► Greenoaks and Benchmark led a USD40m seed round for Pax, a Brazil-based AI company for public safety forces, with participation from existing and angel investors. #LatinAmerica

► Sofinnova Partners led a EUR13m (~USD15m) seed extension for Ingenix, a Warsaw-based AI developer for biotech research, with participation from Inovo VC and OTB VC. #CEE

► Cloud9 Capital led a USD16m Series A for Uncover, a Brazil-based Marketing Mix Modeling (MMM) and media measurement platform, with participation from ABSeed Ventures and Endeavor. #LatinAmerica

► Summit Agricultural Group launched JetBio, a Brazil-based sustainable aviation fuel producer. The project is expected to require ~USD2b in investment. #LatinAmerica

FUNDRAISING

► Blackstone reached a USD13.1b final close for Blackstone Asia Partners III, its largest Asia-focused private equity fund. #Asia

► Anara Impact Capital reached a USD48m first close for its MENA-focused impact VC fund, targeting investments in climate resilience, healthcare and financial inclusion. #MiddleEast

► Actis reached a USD2.5b first close for Actis Energy Fund 6, targeting energy transition investments globally. #Global

EXITS

► AfricInvest announced a phased exit from Groupe Centaures, a Côte d'Ivoire-based logistics and international transport company, following a USD16m fundraising. #Africa

► Investec Principal Investments exited Sunpac, a South Africa-based distributor, marketer and supply-chain partner for fast-moving consumer goods, via a sale to CA Sales Holdings. #Africa

► CVC Capital Partners agreed to exit Hermes Transportes Blindados, a Peru-based cash transportation and security services company, via a sale to Loomis for ~USD424m. #LatinAmerica

► Macquarie Asset Management and IG4 Capital agreed to sell CLI - Corredor Logística e Infraestrutura, a Brazil-based independent port operator, to AD Ports Group in a transaction valued at USD835m. #LatinAmerica

► Helios Investment Partners agreed to exit Africa Specialty Risks, a pan-African specialty insurance group, via a sale to Vitruvian Partners. #Africa
