GPCA Deal Book V: Inclusive & Sustainable Growth

#DealCases

Monks Hill Ventures, ErudiFi-NW

In April 2018, Monk’s Hill Ventures invested in ErudiFi, an Indonesia-based financial technology company that offers educational loans and installment-based payment plans to students in Southeast Asia.

With Monk’s Hill's support, the number of borrowers at ErudiFi increased 10x from 5,000 students in 2021 to over 50,000 by November 2024. The company plays a critical role in improving financial access, with 99% of Filipino and 64% of Indonesian users being first-time borrowers, helping families build credit history through affordable education financing. ErudiFi also prioritizes inclusive growth, ensuring marginalized communities are well represented. In October 2024, women made up 60% of borrowers in the Philippines and 50% in Indonesia, while 80–90% of borrowers across both countries came from lower-income households.
