Nominations Open for GPCA Better Tech Award 2023

The 2023 GPCA Better Tech Award seeks to identify a high-growth company leveraging technology to provide breakthrough solutions and measurable positive impact in Asia, Africa, Latin America, CEE and/or the Middle East. 

The inaugural 2022 GPCA Better Tech Award was won by India-based Tricog Health, nominated by GPCA Member Blume Ventures. Tricog is an India-based healthtech providing remote cardiac diagnosis and care coordination in healthcare centers across India, Southeast Asia and Africa.

GPCA Southeast Asia Members Meeting & Singapura Sundown Reception

Members are invited to join the Southeast Asia Members Meeting featuring panel discussions with LPs and GPs at PwC's Singapore office on 21 September 2023. Attendees will include GPCA Members and invited guests from the investment community and government. 

Following the Members Meeting, GPCA will host the Singapura Sundown Reception at the iconic rooftop lounge at CÉ LA VI.

► BPEA agreed to acquire a controlling stake in India-based fertility clinic chain Indira IVF from TA Associates. #Asia

► Chint Solar, a China-based manufacturer of photovoltaic cell modules, raised a CNY2b (~USD280.1m) Series C from Bocom Investment, Changjiang Green Industrial Fund, China Capital Management, China International Capital Corporation, China Life Private Equity Investment Company and others. ​​#Asia

► General Atlantic invested USD160m in Hospitales MAC, a Mexico-based network of affordable hospitals. Actinver and PineBridge invested previously. #LatinAmerica

► CICC Capital led a CNY1b+ (~USD139.8m+) Series B and C for Dyness, a China-based battery energy storage system manufacturer, with participation from L Catterton, Jinqiu Fund, Pegasus Capital and Southernwood Capital. #Asia

► Climate Fund Managers agreed to invest USD102m in Release by Scatec, a Norway-based solar power and battery storage solutions provider operating in Africa. #Africa

► AC Ventures, East Ventures and SV Investment led a USD37.6m seed round for MAKA Motors, an Indonesia-based electric motorcycle manufacturer, with participation from Northstar Group, Peak XV Partners, Openspace Ventures and others. #Asia

► TNB Aura led a USD17.1m Series A for GIMO, a Vietnam-based earned wage access platform, with participation from Genting Ventures, TKG Taekwang, George Kent and AlteriQ Global, as well as follow-on from Integra Partners, Resolution Ventures and others.  #Asia

► Singapore-based financial analytics platform Bunker raised USD5m+ pre-seed and seed rounds from Alpha JWC, Northstar Group, January Capital, GFC, Money Forward, Alpine Ventures, Patamar Capital and angel investors. #Asia

► Lithuania-based transportation management platform GoRamp raised a USD3m seed round from LEAD Ventures, as well as follow-on from Wilgrow, Startup Wise Guys, Presto Ventures and angel investors. #CEE

EXITS
► First Rock Private Equity exited 24% of its stake in Dolla Financial, a Jamaica-based microlending company, through a sale to Supreme Ventures, a Jamaica-based gaming company, and Mayberry Investment for ~USD7m. #LatinAmerica

► Ferrara Candy, a US-based sugar confections conglomerate, acquired Dori Alimentos, a Brazil-based snack manufacturer and distributor backed by ACON Investments. #LatinAmerica

► Denham Capital, a global natural resources investor, exited Rio Energy, a Brazil-based onshore renewables company, through a sale to Equinor, a Norway-based energy provider. #LatinAmerica
