GPCA recently released its Q3 2024 Industry Data & Analysis, featuring in-depth private capital data and commentary on key trends across global markets. GPCA Members can log in to download the Q3 2024 Industry Data & Analysis Excel file.

 

Overall private capital investment across GPCA markets – including Asia, Latin America, Africa, CEE and the Middle East – fell slightly to USD23.9b in Q3, and deal count dropped to 734 disclosed transactions, with fewer VC deals executed.

► CDH Investments and Blue Lake Capital led a USD100m Series B1 for Zelos, a China-based developer of unmanned logistics vehicles. #Asia

 

► General Catalyst led a USD67.5m Series B for Lean Technologies, a Saudi Arabia-based financial services provider for businesses, with participation from Bain Capital Ventures, Duquesne Family Office and Arbor Ventures. #MiddleEast

 

► Old Mutual PE and Sphere Investments agreed to fully acquire Much Asphalt, a South Africa-based commercial manufacturer of asphalt and bituminous binders and emulsions, from AECI for ZAR1.1b (~USD63m). #Africa

 

► SoftBank led a USD60m Series C for Blip, a Brazil-based customer chatbot that runs on digital channels including WhatsApp, with participation from Microsoft. #LatinAmerica

 

► Reach Capital led a USD12m Series A for Cometa, a Mexico-based finance management platform for educational institutions. #LatinAmerica

 

FUNDRAISING

► Actis reached a USD560m final close for its Asia Climate Transition fund, focusing on climate solutions, including energy efficiency, smart grids, district energy and sustainable transport investments, across Asia. The Hong Kong Monetary Authority anchored the vehicle. #Asia

 

► BTG Pactual secured USD500m for its Latin American Reforestation Strategy which is focused on the restoration of natural forest and sustainable commercial tree farms. #LatinAmerica

 

► Bek Ventures (formerly Earlybird Digital East Fund) reached a EUR235m (~USD250m) close for its third fund focused on early-stage tech investments in CEE. #CEE

 

► Abakkus Asset Managers raised INR24b (~USD284.4m) for its maiden Four2Eight Opportunities Fund focused on mid-to-late-stage unlisted companies in India. #Asia

 

► Cogito Capital Partners reached a EUR90m+ (~USD96m+) first close for its second fund focused on investing in enterprise software, fintech and healthtech sectors in Europe. The vehicle has a EUR125m (~USD133.5m) target. #CEE

 

► Pavestone Capital reached a INR8.2b (~USD97m) final close for its maiden fund focused on early growth-stage companies in India. The vehicle exceeded its INR6b target (~USD70m). #Asia

 

► Intudo Ventures raised USD75m for its fourth fund focused on investing in startups, as well as USD50m for a fund focused on investing in natural resources and renewable energy in Indonesia. #Asia

 

EXITS

► African Infrastructure Investment Managers exited its 12.67% stake in South Africa-based highway manager Bakwena Platinum Corridor Concession via a sale to Gaia Fund Managers. #Africa

 

► Swiggy, an India-based food delivery platform, raised INR113.3b (~USD1.3b) through an IPO on the NSE. #Asia

 

► Sagility, an India-based provider of BPM services for healthcare centers backed by EQT, raised INR21b (~USD249m) through an IPO. #Asia
