Recap: Asia Members Meeting

4 February 2026 | Singapore

GPCA’s first Asia Members Meeting of the year, "China Revisited," explored the shifting dynamics of capital allocation in China after several years of reduced investment. The meeting featured insights from Rebecca Xu of Asia Alternatives, David Huang of StepStone Group, Carmen Liu of Control Risks and Nat Bush of DLA Piper.
Panel

Key takeaways:

► Backed by international capital, technology, and talent, Chinese entrepreneurs are expanding globally while navigating unfamiliar risks such as labor regulations and listing controls.

► Chinese private capital remains focused on building and scaling businesses domestically. Multinationals are retaining minority stakes in assets sold to local investors, particularly those expanding into tier 3–5 cities.

► Economic growth has been concentrated in Chinese tier 1–2 cities, but consumer demand is accelerating in tier 3–5 cities, with ~800 million people starting to enter the middle class. China’s ~300 million seniors also represent significant spending power, especially in healthcare.

Investing in Women
The meeting also spotlighted our Southeast Asia Women Investors Directory, developed in partnership with Investing in Women, with Fernanda Lima of LeapFrog Investments and Helen Wong of ACV Capital in attendance.

Save the date for our next Asia Members Meeting on 10 June 2026.
