Submission Deadline Approaching: 2024 GPCA Deal Book and Awards

GPCA is pleased to invite GPCA Member firms to participate in the 2024 GPCA Deal Awards and GPCA Deal Book. Both initiatives highlight fund managers who have achieved extraordinary investment outcomes in Asia, Africa, Latin America, Central & Eastern Europe and the Middle East. 

 

The GPCA Deal Awards program recognizes investments across five categories:

  • 2024 GPCA Environmental Sustainability Award (an exit is not mandatory)
  • 2024 GPCA Social Impact Award (an exit is not mandatory)
  • 2024 GPCA Gender/Diversity Award (an exit is not mandatory)
  • 2024 GPCA Innovation Award (an exit is not mandatory)
  • 2024 GPCA Deal of the Year Award (requires a partial or full exit)

Member firms can submit one deal for consideration for the Deal Awards, Deal Book or both.

To request a submission form and submit a deal, please contact Toluwani Adedeji at tadedeji@gpcapital.org. All submission forms must be completed and received by 14 June 2024. Please visit the GPCA website for more information on the GPCA Deal Awards program, including the 2023 winners, as well as previous editions of the GPCA Deal Book.

 

​​​​​​Winners will be chosen by an independent panel of LP judges and announced at the GPCA Investors Meeting in London on 19 November 2024.

GPCA's CEO, Cate Ambrose, attended the Hong Kong Venture Capital and Private Equity Association (HKVCA) China Private Equity Summit (CPES) on 20 May. She participated in the LP Panel on Greater China with panelists Rebecca Xu of Asia Alternatives, John Huo of Manulife Investment Management, Hiroyuki Natori of SuMi TRUST and Shirley Ma of APG Asset Management.

On 21 May, GPCA and Hong Kong Venture Capital and Private Equity Association (HKVCA) co-hosted an Investor Training on Trends in Fundraising and Secondaries in Hong Kong.

► KKR acquired a significant minority stake in Infinx Healthcare, an India-based process outsourcing platform for the healthcare industry, for INR12.5b (~USD150m). #Asia

 

► ChrysCapital agreed to invest ~USD100m in Center for Sight, an India-based chain of eye care clinics. #Asia

 

► Mountain Capital Partners fully acquired La Parva, a Chile-based ski resort located northeast of Santiago. #LatinAmerica

 

► KKR agreed to invest in PHINMA Education, the private higher education arm of Philippines-based conglomerate PHINMA Corporation. #Asia

 

► Kotak invested ~INR4b (~USD48m) in India-based medical device manufacturer Biorad Medisys. #Asia

 

► Property Finder, a UAE-based real estate platform for rental and sales, raised USD90m in debt from Francisco Partners. #MiddleEast

 

► BTG Pactual increased its stake in Brazil-based digital infrastructure company V.tal from 69% to 83%. BTG Pactual initially invested in V.tal in June 2022. #LatinAmerica

 

► Vision Plus Capital led a CNY400m (~USD56m) Series B for GMT Automation Technology, a China-based developer of equipment and automated production lines for the automobile industry, with follow-on from Changxing Jingfa, Orient Jiafu Asset Management, Haibang Venture and others. #Asia

 

► Moriah Asset invested BRL100m (~USD19.6m) in Brazil-based açaí franchisor Oakberry. The investment is an extension of BTG Pactual’s BRL325m (~USD62.9m) round announced in December 2023. #LatinAmerica

 

► Enterprise Investors agreed to acquire a majority stake in Sescom, a Poland-based provider of technological facility management services focusing on the retail sector, for EUR24.7m (~USD26.8m). #CEE

 

► Integra Capital agreed to acquire a majority stake in Peru-based mining company Volcan from Swiss multinational mining company Glencore. #LatinAmerica

 

► Fintech Collective led a USD8m Series A for WheeKeep, a Saudi Arabia-based self-storage solutions provider. #MiddleEast

 

FUNDRAISING  

► Trustar Capital reached a USD900m first close for its fifth China buyout fund. The vehicle has a USD3.5b target. #Asia

 

► Alcazar Energy Partners reached a USD490m final close for its second sustainable infrastructure fund focused on utility-scale renewable energy projects in emerging markets. #MiddleEast

 

► TVM Capital Healthcare reached a ~USD250m close for its Afiyah Fund LP focused on the health sector in Saudi Arabia. #MiddleEast

 

EXITS

► Adenia fully exited DDP Outdoor, a Ghana-based out-of-home advertising company, via a sale to Injaro Ghana Venture Capital Fund. #Africa

 

► WestBridge Capital partially exited its stake in India-based home loan company Aptus Value Housing Finance, selling 5% of the company for INR10.3b (~USD124m). #Asia

 

► The Carlyle Group sold its remaining stake in Brazil-based healthcare provider Rede D’Or via a block trade for BRL2.2b (~USD430.5m). #LatinAmerica

 

► Abris Capital exited Poland-based private healthcare provider Scanmed via a sale to the American Heart of Poland Group. #CEE
